Events – Hand Eye Test https://test.handeyesociety.com My WordPress Blog Fri, 18 Oct 2019 13:39:27 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.7.1 Geek Chic 2019 is over! https://test.handeyesociety.com/2019/10/18/geek-chic-2019/ Fri, 18 Oct 2019 13:39:27 +0000 https://www.handeyesociety.com/?p=30406

Geek Chic City 2019 is over! A huge thanks goes out to everyone that showed up to make the evening full of an abundance of good vibes and love.

Shout outs to designers Kedre Designs, by Afua, Cultivated Clothing Company, and this year’s winner, The Universe Sucks, for spending their time to share their creative visions with us.

Judges Star (@thatqueenstar) and Angel (@angelsndemonscosplay) graciously took the weight of deciding the night’s victor on their shoulders while serving us LOOKS in the process.

We also need to thank all of the wonderful models who made the event what it was! Thank you all for sharing your positive energy and good vibes with our guests and each other to make the show a success!

Also, many praises due to Eyeda Sophia for her captivating delivery of material off of her record The Red Project! If you can’t wait to see Eyeda again, or missed her performance, you’re in luck:

Eyeda will be hosting a spooky Hip Hop + Anime Halloween on Oct 30 at Unit 2. Check out this link for more information!

Photographers Rachel Clarke (@ray.chillz), Devon Ross, and David (@david.e.photographer) took some amazing shots over the course of the night. In addition to shooting the runway and setup, Rachel Clarke blessed us with an incredible photoshoot room where everyone had an opportunity to show off their Blue-Steel.

Our stomachs owe a huge thank you to Jeffrey from Atomtree Wellness for keeping us fed with delicious vegan eats! Who knew fashion was so could make you so hungry?

The always-incredible journalist and member of The Avengers™, Al Donato (@al.donato) gracefully guided us through drum rolls, the runway, and technical hiccups while making everyone feel included and welcomed. Thank you for holding it all the way down!

Toronto artist Bliptor helped our models werq the runway with the perfect dosage of fashion-worthy tunes. For more of Bliptor’s tasty sounds, check out C’mon Sis TONIGHT at The Beaver.

We are so thankful for everyone that came out to celebrate in the spirit of inclusive, geeky, fashion! Even the simple act of coming out and participating in an event like Geek Chic City helps to validate and fortify the space for others in the future.

We also owe Another Reality a resounding “hurrah” for sponsoring the event and providing some VR fashion design at GCC! Another Reality is a new space that combines new and experimental technologies such as virtual reality, projection mapping, and robotics, with timeless traditional games to create a new and memorable experience for visitors. Another Reality is opening on October 22nd, but you can book now!

Thank you so much for being a part of our event and sharing this moment with us! Follow @gccfashionsummit for more pictures and footage.

Until next year!

Come celebrate our zine launch at Evergreen Brick Works https://test.handeyesociety.com/2019/05/23/come-celebrate-zine-launch-evergreen-brick-works/ Thu, 23 May 2019 16:01:33 +0000 https://handeyesociety.com/?p=29226 Howdy friends!

In case you missed it, back in April we hosted our very first game jam at Evergreen Brick Works. We brought together six participants over a span of three days to brainstorm, build and submit a game project based on the interconnected networks of natural and urban systems at the space, and it was a great success! But now, there’s more!

The final game concepts have been documented and transformed into a printed and digital zine that has been designed by Chris White and illustrated by 6 local artists from Toronto!

Cost: The zine will cost $5 for the greyscale version and $20 for the full-colour version. A Pay What You Can initiative also available for the greyscale zine. All proceeds will go towards supporting the creators.

Please come celebrate, mingle and support us as we celebrate the conclusion of our first quarter of our Game Curious program at Evergreen Brick Works. Also, if you missed playing the games from the previous game jam, the participants and their creations will be back for your playing pleasure!

See you next month!

March’s Please Stop Snowing Newsletter https://test.handeyesociety.com/2019/03/01/marchs-please-stop-snowing-newsletter/ Fri, 01 Mar 2019 17:30:29 +0000 http://handeyesociety.com/?p=28814 *Sips on hot ginger tea*

Yeah, no. For real this time. That groundhog said there was going to be early spring, but it’s all a sham! It lied! I can never trust mammals ever again! I can’t believe I fell for the hype!

Oh, the shame! If you ever see a groundhog, please do me a favour and send them to the shame corner!

This is EXACTLY why I trust hedgehogs. They wont lie to me…will they?

Hmmm…this remains to be seen, but either way March is here regardless and there are tons of stuff to do!

Have fun, friends! Cross your fingers and toes for double-digit positive temperatures! 🙌🏾
